10 a.m. Reservists from Naval Operational Support Center, Buffalo arrive at Hospice Buffalo Mitchell Campus and begin to deliver gifts to Hospice patients on campus

PLACE: 225 Como Park Boulevard, Cheektowaga, NY

DETAILS: Reservists from the Buffalo's Naval Operational Support Center will be delivering gifts in uniform to Hospice patients at the Hospice Buffalo House and the Mary and Ralph Wilson, Jr. Hospice Inpatient Unit located on the Hospice Mitchell Campus in Cheektowaga. The group will also deliver gifts to the homes of Hospice Buffalo patients in Erie County using trucks donated by LaFarge North America, the largest diversified supplier of construction materials in the U.S. and Canada, and an employer of one of the reservists. James Dier, organizer of the gift-giving reservists, is the husband of Hospice Buffalo House nurse manager, Kathy Dier, and learned about the need for volunteers to deliver gifts several weeks ago.

"More than 40 Hospice patients and their families will receive gifts, all donated by Hospice employees, volunteers, donors and the Naval Reserve Station," notes April DiPizio, director of Volunteers for Hospice Buffalo. "We truly appreciate everyone's help in raising money for our Family Care fund and to the reservists and volunteers who are helping to deliver presents to our families experiencing difficult times."

Hospice Buffalo cares for more than 500 patients with serious illness each day in homes, hospitals, adult homes, nursing facilities, group homes and at the Hospice Mitchell Campus in Cheektowaga.

Hospice Buffalo serves individuals with serious illness, and their families and caregivers through a continuum of care spanning the course of illness and bereavement.
